On Sunday 7 June three members went and played with 45 others, in the Memorial annual event arranged by Suffolk Coastal Pétanque Alliance (SCPA) at Westhall Racehorse.
The event raises money for a different charity each year and remembers players who have passed away over the year.
Gill writes: “Darren, Gill and Eira all entered the SCPA Memorial Tournament held at the Racehorse Inn, Westhall on Sunday 7 June. 16 teams of three were entered into the tournament ie 48 players from different clubs. Names were drawn from the hat for teams so there was a good mix.
Eira and her team got through to the Silver semi-finals. Darren and his team got through to the Gold semi-finals. Gill and her team got through to the Gold finals.
The weather was beautiful and the location lovely. A very enjoyable tournament and for The Saints members that entered, a very successful day.”
This is good fun and a little sad too. Players put their names down as pointer, middle or shooter. Darren and Gill got through gold finals; Eira to silver semi finals.
