Eye Saints’ first mêlée – report and pics

Wendy Cooper (1), Tim Kerslake (2), and Richard Turner (3) receive their prizes from Eira Featley, Eye Saints club secretary

Gill Jarvis writes:
‘Eye Saints Community Boules Club held its first mêlée at their terrain at
the Community Centre, Eye, on Friday 11 September with 24 players registered.  Play started at 10.30am.

Everyone  played three  games of 40 minutes each in the morning and then stopped for lunch. Sandwiches and cakes were available to buy (provided by the Club) and the Community Centre bar was open along with the availability of coffee and teas all day. A raffle was also held.

After lunch two more games of 40 minutes were played and the scores were collected and totalled to find the winners, who were:

First place with five wins and 20 points: Wendy Cooper
Second place with four wins and 23 points: Tim Kerslake
Third place with four wins and 18 points: Richard Turner

This was a day when play was for fun and good company. The weather was good, not too hot , with sunshine and clouds alternating, so playing conditions were ideal. Everyone seemed to have a great time and we hope to hold more of these events in the future.

Very many thanks are due to Rachel Bergstrom who organised the event  for us and to all who provided raffle prizes and sandwiches and cakes.

We raised £272 after expenses, which will be divided between the Club and the Community Centre (which is a charity).’
