Gill went to watch and support the Semis at Kettleburgh, and writes;
‘Another lovely autumn day saw the Ladies League semi finals played at the Chequers, Kettleburgh on Saturday 26 September.
The players were:
Seeded 1 Niki and Janet.
Seeded 2 Deborah and Bev
Seeded 3 Barbara and Jenny
Seeded 4 Iris and Joy.
The games were allocated: No 1 seed v No 4 seed
No 2 seed v No 3 seed.
Each pair to play two games.
In the first game, Niki and Janet took an early lead and were on their way to victory when Iris and Joy suddenly found their distance and came back fighting, winning a close game 13-11. This seemed to shake Niki and Janet and the second game was won by Iris and Joy, 13-3.
In the second semi, it was neck and neck for a long while until Deborah and Bev managed to take the first game 13-11. Their second game was an amazing show of strength by Deborah and Bev, taking the game in four ends, scoring six, three and four and winning 13-4.
The finalists therefore are Deborah and Bev vs Iris and Joy which will be played on Saturday 3 October at The Parrot and Punchbowl, Aldringham.’
